LUPE FIASCO - DRILL MUSIC IN ZION (LP - BLU - 2022)
Notes : Lupe Fiasco ha registrato Drill Music a Zion nell'agosto del 2021. L'intenzione era quella di scrivere e registrare l'intero album in 24 ore, ma il processo si è concluso in tre giorni. La decisione di Lupe di registrare l'album in un lasso di tempo così breve è stata ispirata dal concetto giapponese di wabi-sabi, ovvero apprezzare la bellezza nell'imperfezione. In un tweet del 12 agosto 2021, Lupe Fiasco ha descritto l'album come "il mio Illmatic". Ha inoltre dichiarato che l'intero album sarebbe stato prodotto da Soundtrakk, le cui collaborazioni passate con Lupe includono "Kick, Push" e "Superstar". In un'intervista rilasciata a Okayplayer, Lupe ha dichiarato che, nonostante il titolo, Drill Music in Zion "non vuole essere un album di 'drill music'. In alcuni casi, non è nemmeno un album di musica drill". Ha poi dichiarato che il titolo dell'album è stato ispirato da una scena di Matrix Reloaded in cui "i robot perforano Zion. L'ultimo posto in cui l'umanità può vivere e sopravvivere nel mondo di Matrix, lo chiamano Zion".
