La band emerse da un gruppo di giovani musicisti dublinesi, chiamato "Lypton Village", alcuni dei quali formarono gli U2. Tutti condividevano uno spirito veementemente anti-patriarcale e anti-establishment e i loro diversi background religiosi rafforzavano i loro interessi reciproci.
